India at Asian Games: For the first time in the 72-year history of the Asian Games, the Indian team has won more than 70 medals. India set this record of winning 70+ medals on the 11th day of the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. Earlier, India had won 70 medals in the Asian Games held in 2018. Asian Games are being played regularly since 1951. For the first time they were organized in India only. In these Asian Games played 72 years ago, India had won 51 medals, which included 15 gold. However, after this, India could not touch the figure of 50 medals in the Asian Games for 31 years. When Delhi got the hosting rights of Asian Games 1982, India won 57 medals.
